Blå Kors takes over Northern Norway\'s largest private drug treatment institution Sigma Nord

The owners of Sigma Nord have reached retirement age and want to sell their life\'s work. In the end, it was Blue Cross that became the preferred actor, in strong competition with others.

DHT, our Partner in Norway, advised Sigma Nord in this process.

 -  Blue Cross has long had a desire to strengthen its activities in Northern Norway, especially in the treatment of drugs and addiction. We want to be a contributor within an important public health area also in Northern Norway and that will give us greater weight as a nationwide actor, says divisional director for Blue Cross treatment, Anita Ellefsen.

Blue Cross will take over operations on 1 March 2022.

- The quality and values that Blue Cross represents in substance abuse treatment are in good agreement with what we have wanted for further operations at Sigma Nord, says the chairman of Sigma Nord, Arne E. Johansen.

Will provide increased knowledge and learning

Blå Kors is today the largest non-profit actor in Norway in drug and addiction treatment. Sigma Nord will be the organization\'s eighth treatment institution and the first in northern Norway.

- Now we are expanding  further,  while at the same time strengthening our professional offer, says Ellefsen.

Among other things, Blå Kors will continue the  12-step nursing model that forms the basis of Sigma Nord \'s treatment offer.

– The 12-step model is not used in Blue Cross today. It\'s a different professional approach that will give us increased knowledge and learning, says Ellefsen.

Ellefsen points out that the professional expertise that Sigma Nord possesses is very valuable, and that Blue Cross will work actively to ensure that the expertise is transferred between the businesses in order to be able to offer the best possible offer to patients.

 - We are concerned with looking after the patients, their relatives and the employees in a good way in the further work, concludes Ellefsen.
