BGF announces €7m investment in The Avoca Clinic
Focus Capital Partners, our MAWW partner in Ireland advised The Avoca Clinic on the acquisition of BGF.
Equity investor firm BGF has invested €7 million in cosmetic surgery outfit The Avoca Clinic, which has three locations in Wicklow, Limerick and Dundalk.
The equity investment will see BGF take a significant minority position within the business, as is their SME remit, with Lauren Sharpe of BGF joining the board and Noel Daly joining as non-executive chairman.
Daly previously worked as non-executive director of Kingsbridge, a Northern Ireland and north-west Ireland hospital group, as well as being the former chairman of Saolta Hospital Group, which includes University Hospital Galway.
The Avoca Clinic was founded in 2012 by mother and daughter team Niamh Murdock and Ailish Kelly, who serve as CEO and sales director respectively.
The clinic currently employs over 40 people, including a team of plastic surgeons. It primarily offers surgical and non-surgical treatments, including breast, body and facial procedures, with in-patient and out-patient options.
The Avoca Clinic CEO Niamh Murdock said: \"We are delighted to welcome BGF as an investor in The Avoca Clinic.
\"This investment, and the expertise that BGF and Noel Daly as our Chairman will bring, will support our plans to expand our surgical capacity and footprint across Ireland in this next phase of growth for the clinic.\"
Noel Daly added: \"The Avoca Clinic is an extremely well run Irish healthcare business with ambitious growth plans. I look forward to supporting the team on this exciting phase of their journey.\"
