A Quick Guide to Tag People and Companies in Your LinkedIn Posts
Why tagging your company and MAWW on Linkedin posts is important?
• There are several important benefits to tagging your company on Linkedin.
• This will help with Deal flow as your posts will be more visible.
• It will create brand awareness of your company and MAWW.
• It will create traction for your posts and brand.
• It also affects your ranking within Linkedin.
Tagging is a feature on all social networks that enables you to mention people, entities, organizations or companies in a post. But you should only do this when they are directly associated with it.
How can tagging help your LinkedIn visibility and growth?
All you have to do is tag relevant people in your post. Once you tag them, they will likely engage with the post, boosting your engagement. Tagging is a strategic growth technique, but there are some rules that you should carefully follow.
Only tag relevant people
Don’t spam your connections by tagging people who don’t have anything to do with the post
Don’t mass tag people
Ensure at least 50% of the tagged people engage with the post
You may want to mention a connection or other LinkedIn member for a number of reasons. It may be to thank them, to acknowledge something they have written or to highlight their contribution to or involvement with a recent event or conference. Mentioning or tagging your connections in this way can encourage engagement with your posts and comments and draw your connection’s attention to your update.
Why you should mention People in Your Posts
When you tag or mention a connection in a post, they’ll receive a notification on the desktop and mobile versions if they have those notifications enabled, and they will receive an email from LinkedIn telling them that you mentioned them in the post, and including a link so they can easily navigate to the post. Mentioning or tagging specific connections makes it more likely that they’ll want to check out a post and possibly like, comment on or share it with their network.
Note: LinkedIn members don’t need to be your connection in order to mention you or be mentioned by you.
To mention someone in a post:
From your LinkedIn homepage, click Start a post or click Comment at the bottom of someone else’s post.
Type “@” and then begin typing a name. You’ll see a list of potential people you can mention.
Click the name of the person or people you want to mention from the list and continue typing your message.
The mention or tag will notify your connections that your post or comment might be relevant to them.
It is important to note that connections mentioned in your post or comment are associated with their profiles. You can easily remove a mention of yourself from a comment or post. Viewers are also able to click on connection names to navigate to their profiles.
Sometimes tagging someone or something works faster than others. Sometimes you have to have a few tries before it works or put your mouse at the end of their name for the correct person to appear – that’s just something wonky with LinkedIn. Also if the person’s name is common, make sure you are tagging the right person before you finish the post.
Something to avoid is mass tagging people who have nothing to do with your post hoping it will encourage them to like it and share it. This can be confusing to many people and is the equivalent of spamming people on LinkedIn. Please avoid it. Strategically tagging people will increase your engagement and strengthen your connections.
